Filter Media

Kaldness K1

Kaldnes Moving Bed™ process, which has been scientifically tried and tested in fish farming and waste water treatment for over 10 years, is now available to fish keepers and is exclusively distributed worldwide by Evolution Aqua and their authorized dealers.

Developed by Professor Halvard Odergard at Trondheim University of Science and Technology the Kaldnes Moving Bed™ bio film process has been designed specifically to create the most effective environment for the nitrification process to take place. The media is engineered in a wheel shape and is slightly positively buoyant, allowing a small amount of water flow (created by adding air to the process) to circulate the media throughout the vessel.

50 litres £64.95

Kaldness K3

Very similer to its smaller brother, k3 is an enlarged version which allows people to put it into filters where K1 was too small for filter grids and transfer ports.

50 litres £59.95

Kaldness biochip media

The main difference to k1 is that the protected area or quiet zone in a Bio chip is designed for the micro animals not just bacteria. The extreme quiet zones created by the hydrophilic layer protecting every cavity in the bio chip is critical to allow there micro animals to flourish

This micro animals feed on particles, single cell algae and have many other atributes.

Zeolite

Zeolite is a natural remedy for the removal of ammonia. When placed into your pond it will readily absorb ammonia from the water. After a period of time the zeolite will become saturated with amonia and can be refreshed by removing it from the pond and the ammonia dispersed by placing it in a bucket of strong saline solution (It should be rinsed before being returned to the pond). There are no hard and fast rules about the use of zeolite because each pond has differing amounts of amonia and fish. It should be remembered that ammonia can kill your fish so you should:

Tip: Zeolite should always be soaked in a saline solution (1 Kg salt to 10 litres water) before use to remove any ammonia absobed from the atmosphere and also to recharge.

only available in large bag £24.99

Drilled foam blocks

Made to fit on maniflods to give that extra bit of clarity to the water as it travels on to the pump.

12" x 4" x 4" £5.95

Filter wadding

This product is gaining a great deal of popularity due to its superb ability to filter out fine particles leaving your water crystal clear. It is now standard in all our Mega Media flters. Available in one meter squares.

£18.95

Reticulated foam

3-piece foam packs are available to fit virtually all types and sizes of biological box filters. Normally supplied in three different grades of dimpled foam per set. The most common sizes being approximately 11" x 17", 18" x 25" and 21" x 42". We supply replacement drilled filter foam sets for a perfect fit in our mega range of filters.

11" x 17" £10.95

18" x 25" £21.95

21" x 42" £42.95

Japanese matting

The old favourite, has a massive surface area and is very effective for biological filtraton, can be cut into any shape, but is most effective when made into cartrideges which can be made to order.

£59.00 per sheet

Flocor

Flocor is made up from corrugated plastic tubing cut into short lengths. It is extremely popular due to its low cost and high efficiency.

Its large surface area makes it an ideal filter media. It is easy to install, use and clean and...It Works!

One quarter cubic metre £69.95

One cubic foot £11.95

Lithaqua

Bacta-pur® LITHAQUA is a marine mineral some times referred to as coral however it is calcified seaweed! high in trace elements and carbonates. A superb filter media of porous construction. Average particle size is 5 to 10 mm. Modern filter chambers contain many varied plastic media , these provide good support but Lithaqua goes one stage further. Not only do the beneficial bacteria draw nutrients from the mineral support, the media has a massive surface area up to 20 times greater than most plastic media. Bacta-pur® LITHAQUA is a biological media not intended for mechanical stages. Use Bacta-pur® LITHAQUA in a clean water chamber after mechanical
removal of waste.

Bacta-pur® LITHAQUA can be used in trickle towers, replace gravel in ponds / filters etc. The high level of carbonates will improve carbonate alkalinity in soft water regions neutralising low acid pH and buffer swings in pH. Use 5 to 10kg per 1000 gallons to restore neutral pH.

10kg £29.95

25kg £44.95

Crystal Bio Media

Crystal Bio is a unique, eco-friendly filter-media, heated in excess of 900°C, creating a hyper-connecting glass cell structure. This produces media with a surface-area at least 10 times greater than most plastic alternatives. Furthermore, the weight is extremely low in comparison to other porous filter media: 100 litres of Crystal Bio weights 15 Kilos!

ADVANTAGES:

- Crystal Bio media has an Inter-connecting porous cell structure allowing for a massive biological surface area.

- Crystal Bio helps prevent pH drop.

- Helps reduce Nitrates

- Suitable for multi-bay filters and trickle filters.

Crystal Bio 50 litres £79.95

Crystal Bio 100 litres£149.95

Beads

Especially designed for the bead filters. Extra large, flat and uneven LDPE beads, perfect for bacterial growth and less frictional resistance.
