Hi, sorry we have been lazy with the news again but things have been very busy for us in the last week or so. Shipment is now planned for the 21st of may (ash and strikes permitting), this will include 37 jumbo tosai tateshita go sanke and ginrin go sanke from sakai (yamamatsu), 45 jumbo showa from sekiguchi, 35 jumbo tosai from Shintaro (at last!), 8 nisai showa and gin rin showa, 10 nisai 40-50 cm tateshita from hosakai (showa, tancho showa, kohaku and goshiki), 24 nisai from oofuchi (including doitsu hariwake, sanke, kumonryu, kujaku, ochiba around 30-40cm). Please check before travelling as alot of these koi will NOT be quarantined at the shop.

Also more changes are planned for the websites so I can add more and more instead of passing it all on to the website people, more news, more pictures of koi and keeping everything up to date quicker, these changes should take place over the next week to ten days.

20/04/10

Arrived in the shop today to find more emails with some great fish again picked by our agent. First pic is from Tanaka, nisai shusui, benigoi, gin rin asagi and doitsu sanke. Although the photo doesnt show it the koi are very high qualty as far as the breeder said one shusui was all Japan quality. This young breeder is winning more and more prizes at the shows in Japan, its the same Tanaka that won first and second in ginrin in size and a shusui came 2nd in the same size (these three koi along with two others that were exhibited in the nogyosai showa will come into the shop from q/tine in the next week or so) Then even better news, knowing that our agent was going to sekiguchi we gave him various budgets for various quality of jumbo tosai, we now have 45 tateshita showa of all grades coming to Gatwick koi in the next couple of weeks, somehow in the confusion we have ended up with only one photograph of several koi, these are not a sample they are just one box that mark gardener put in a bowl to photograph, although polaroids were taken to ensure the correct fish are shipped, seems the digital ones were over looked!

18/04/10

Next koi to be picked for us are these non go sanke from oofuchi, doitsu hariwake, kujaku, ochiba and many others. Looking forward to seeing these in 24 degrees and saki growth, no doubt that we can get some weight on these while in q/tine!

16/04/10

We have had many requests for more of the tateshita from Sakai Yamamatsu koi farm, last year we only managed to get 10. This year we have purchased 37! Every one who purchased them last year are very pleased with growth and development so they were a must for our agent to source some more. We are informed that these are between 28cm and 40cm and amoung the varietys, sanke, showa, gin rin showa ,kohaku, tancho and tancho showa. Photos below.

12/04/10 New Koi

As the new season arrives we are now emptying the quarantine facilty and bringing new fish into the shop, we have some budget priced nisai all varietys, Many many tosai sized nisai that have been held over from last year giving small fish with good body shape and that are very very healthy from £35! The fish that were exhibited at the nogyosai show at Japan by Tanaka, these will be in the shop in the next week or two and ill re take the photos and re measure the sizes. The gin rin showas recieved first and second in gin rin, and one of the shusui came second. Due to the very high price of flights and the lack of better quality koi untill all the tategoi have been selected we have decieded to ask our agent to look for koi for us, first koi purchased are ten tateshita from hosakai, these are all female and around 40-45cm. Two yonsai shiros measuring 66 and 62cm and again both female with very nice skin, since being moved to the shop Sumi has started to develop and come through quiet nicely. On the 30th of April we finish the quarantine on the tosai, amoung these are some very nice ochiba 18cm -22cm and some 16cm and above go sanke and other varietys from Miyatora, also 25 hand selected masaki shiros, and some high quality tanchos from Tanaka. If there is somthing you are looking for please call the shop and we will ask our agent to look for you.

Due to the intereast of the blog we are keeping it going as we are still buying and shipping koi from the autumn harvest so feel free to have a look. After looking at videos of koi we are not happy with the video software we are using, this should be sorted out in the next few weeks.

02/11/09 Apology....................

Hi All, as most of you know I priced up all the koi in Japan and had them on the website virtually before I left. As the weekend was very busy I had not had time to look through all the shipping documents and reciepts, as we are now shipping through different agents I didnt realise how much cheaper the frieght rate was, and also what a favourable yen rate they had given me (bearing in mind I changed money at heathrow at 130 yen to the pound), when checking through the prices this morning I realised what a BIG differance it will make on all of the koi (except around 6 which I had made mistakes on so they wont be changed), I have now spent the afternoon repricing all koi on the website and the new prices should appear in the next 24 hours, (I believe the nisai are already up). To all those who have bought / reserved koi over the weekend you will be getting the new price, for those who paid in full you will get a credit note or refund the differance, to the others your balance will be less! If it was only a few pounds difference I wouldnt have worried, but on some fish it was hundreds of pounds so if you have looked at the koi, then have another look you may be pleasantly surprised. Also we are starting to measure the koi and have found we have under estimated the size of alot of the koi, one sanke advertised at 55cm was nearer 60, so we will be remesuring all koi tommorrow. Sorry about all the confusion, please bear with us.

ps ...I know my pics are still not right, the flash gun I took to Japan was faulty and could not be used, thanks ..................

Blimey, look what you could have one won!!!!!!! An 87cm Kogani Ochiba! Our agent sent us this last night but someone in Europe beat us to it, would certainly look nice in the main pond or for someone looking for jumbo awards at shows next year, by the way only 5 years old. Still im sure theres more where that come from.

12/10/09

Just three days to go and i have to say I just cant contain myself any longer, and to add to my misery the agent is starting to send me pictures of koi that are available already, so tease you guys I thought id post them on here to wet some appitites.............

55-60cm, yonsai, shusui, ogon, asagi and gin rin tancho. Then a very nice sansai sanke from yagenji, the message from the brothers is that this has an excellant body and skin quality and is show quality, if its still there friday then it may be coming back with me!

4/10/10

Our website should now be updated and as you can see we are now nearly out of koi, there are around 50 tosai around 16-18cm which are the last of last years tosai and are now priced up at £20, also a few 12-14" koi left which are a mixture of nisai and jumbo tosai left from this season priced at £85.00.In the main pond a handfull of better quality jumbo tosai tategoi from Maradoh and Sekiguchi also now being offered at very good prices.

27/09/09

Our Autumn trip is now booked and we leave on the 15th of october, if any one is intereasted in joining us please call the shop or email us, this trip will be extra special as we have a chance to visit the famous matsunoske auction to purchase larger high quality koi. One of the first jobs when we arrive is to visit the dealers with our koi that have been grown on, if you like any of the koi on the koi in japan page , please email me after 16th and I will have new photos and sizes. We will also be offering koi for sale while im in Japan at special prices.

18/09/09

Thank you to everybody who came to our sale weekend , the whole weekend was a great sucess leaving us without many koi in the shop. Sorry for the delay for those ordering the small tower showers but they are now back in stock and we are now taking orders again. If you are still looking for that special koi we are still taking orders for our autumn trip to niigata.

11/09/09

Well here we are one week before leaving for Niigata, and quiet frankly im climbing the walls and driving poor old Sue insane. This is not helped by our agent who is already sending pictures of koi that he has seen as the nisai and sansai harvests are already well under way. Im particularly drawn to a sansai Sankai around 57cm which looks very nice on the picture, unfortunatly tonight im starting up my new laptop and the pic is on the other one at the shop so ill try and get this on the news tommorrow ....................Gary

I know, I know, I havnt been keeing the news up to date, I apologise but we have been very very busy, all is on schedule for the completeion of the new off site quarantine. New koi are arriving every two to three weeks so we are even having trouble keeping the koi for sale page up to date, please feel free to ring us with anything you are looking for. Around the end of june the tategoi sekiguschi and sakai tateshita will be out of quarantine, also we have nisai sakai (niigata) tateshita arrived and in quarantine, and have to say we are even more impressed with these, they are around 30-40cm, tancho, tancho sanke, tancho showa, showa, sanke and kohaku.

This week we have had some incredible tosai in, amazing variety and all hand picked, maradoh kohaku tosai, kumonryu from masaki, metalics from marasaka, doistu and metalics from kase, and some more jumbo tosai from sekiguchi. Also not hand picked but very nice quality from takahashi, many varietys and very resonable prices, so much so we have ordered another 200!

15/05/09

Koi arrived safely and have settled down very well. If you are intereasted in any of the tateshita or tategoi then please call before travelling as they are held at our new quarantine facilty away from the shop. I have to say i am very pleased with all the koi and cant wait to get them all through quarantine and into the shop. All of the nisai that are under £200 are in the seperate quarantine at the shop but can still be viewed and purchased but not taken untill quarantine has finished.

With koi sales going so well it has been decieded that we need more quarantine ponds, so with this in mind it has been decieded to build more ponds away from the shop. Two are now finished and glassed but rain has stopped play with othe other two, all this will help us to be one of the leading dealers with healthy quarantined koi. When the fish house is complete ill put some pics up here.

Gary

12/05/09

Koi selected for us in Japan will be arriving on thursday 14th May. There are now many more koi than just that on the news pages including a whole box of ochiba and gin rin ochiba jumbo tosai. We are really pleased with the fish that have been picked for us, it is always a gamble when buying koi like this but with the economy as it is and the pound still weak it was a decision we had to make not to go to Japan ourselves. Also for the last four weeks the shop has been busier than ever so it was the right thing to do, we would like to thank people for thier support and sorry if we have been very busy when you came in and no coffee was made (or if i was a bit stressed )!!!!!!!!!!!!

We look forward to a great summer and hope to see you in the shop or at some of the shows we may visit. We would also like to thank all those who contacted us about the special offer on the sekiguchi jumbo showa, the koi are all sold out and im sorry if you missed out, next time there will be a limit on one koi per person so more people get a chance to purchase.

Gary

1/5/09

More koi selected for us include these 5 chogaro platinum ogons all around 40cm, four very high grade nisai tateshita nisai from seitaro.

We have also had 60 nisai for those with lower budgets as well, the photos will go on the website on arrival, varietys include, chagoi, shsui, ochiba, gin rin ochiba, skaura ogon, tancgo goshiki, kohaku, kujauku and many many more.

27/04/09 HAPPY DAYS!!!!!

After people asking for much higher quality tosai and jumbo tosai, our agent has visited sakai (niigata), and sekiguchi. Last year we had sekiguchi jumbo tosai and were very impressed, this year we asked for much higher quality and were very surprised to be offered GENUINE TATEGOI, only one box and much more money than we wanted to spend but could not turn the offer down. Also tateshita from sakai from 30-40cm, we have been told by the breeders that all koi are female, i have to say i am one very happy koi dealer!!!!! Individual pictures are the sakai tateshita, and the photo of 8 IN ONE BOWL ARE are the tategoi from sekiguchi.

26/04/09

At the moment our agent is travelling around Niigata selecting koi for us, people seem never to tyre of beni kumonryu so we have asked him to find some, already we have had a whole box selected with another one with goshiki , tancho and budo goromo, also a box of budo goromo. While looking for small nisai chagoi he found some jumbo ones uo to 50cm, Hirasawa has said if looked after right they will go through 67-70cm in one year, so just couldnt resist them! A few ginrin as well as some yamabuki and aka matsuba.

20th March 2009

Welcome to our new look web site. With many more products than ever we hope to offer one of the best dry good services in the country. Most products are on the shelf so if visiting you should find all you need, some larger products like filters may be special orders and take 48 hours. All shipping is free and next day delivery if your order is over £35.00.

At the moment due to the weak state of the pound we are subject to a lot of price fluctuation so we will always try to honour the prices on our web site but please bare with us if things change as we are in very trying times as most of you will know.

We are looking to go to Japan in April / May, so if you want to join us or if there is anything you are looking for then please feel free to contact us. Untill then we have had two small shipments of koi which are now in quarantine and half of these are in the shop and can be viewed now.
