29/11/2011 - All Japan Show and koi buying trip .

The All Japan show is on the weekend of the 4th and 5th February 2012 , i have booked my flight today and if you would like to join me for the show , and a weeks koi buying in Niigata the koi capital of the world then contact me on here , or call the shop .

29/11/2011 - New koi .....Bring your coats and Jumpers !!

All the koi have settled down very well , they are nearly half way through the q/tine and are now being chillled slowly for thier last heat cycle .You are welcome to see and purchase the koi but please rememeber although most people will tell you how warm the shop is when we are in quarantine , the next week or so will not be the case so wrap up warm if you are planning to visit !

21/11/2011 - New facility

I guess buy now you will have heard of our plans to obtain another building for q/tine . I am happy to annouce that all the paper work is finally done and tomorrow work starts on the new facility . Its a very old building and will need alot of work making it better insulated , at first calculations we estimate that it will have 8/9 ponds with a total of water volume simlier to the shop and help us buy bigger volumes of koi and help fight the rising cost of koi . This really is excieting times for us and id like to thank all customers old and new for thier support over the last 20 years , we couldnt do it with out you !!!!!

19/11/2011 - Koi 2 kichi , special offer !!!!

If you are intereasted in a Christmas present for the koi keeper , or just want to treat yourself , then please look at our special offers page for details on our half price offer !

13/11/2011 - New koi from the Autumn harvest !!

All koi have now arrived and are very well settled after only two days of being in the country . From Tuesday 15th November the koi can be bowled and purchased .Please remember that koi can be left with us over the winter for a further cost of £50 . Dont forget that all the koi are not in the shop so if travelling a long way please call to check if any particuler koi you are intereasted in is available for viewing .There are around 200 new nisai , sansai and yonsai in the shop already to view now .

10/11/2011 - Off to the airport ................

As i write this we are preparing to leave for Heathrow to pick up the koi selected in the Autumn Harvest .Im really excited , and nervous for this one , its the biggest and most valuable shipment we have ever had ! With over 250 Koi including over 60 sansai and yonsai .The fish can be viewed and sold after arrvival , but please note that we will only net and bowl koi when we are happy that they have settled well enough to do so . Just a little taster , a sansai and yonsai Asagi from Masaki , definatley show quality ..........

05/11/2011 - Koi arrival

All the koi we selected in the Autumn harvest will arrive in the uk next Thursday . Please note that due to the size of the shipment we will be using the shop and the q/tine centre for quarantine period .This means two things ,1 : once the koi have arrived in the shop NO KOI WHAT SO EVER wil be able to leave the shop untill ALL koi have finished thier q/tine period which is around 6 weeks , so if you have a koi with us already , or you are intereasted in one of the ones left in the shop you will need to pick it up by wednesday or it will have tp stay untill all q/tine is finished .2 : If you are intereasted in any koi and are travelling a long way please call the shop as some koi may not be at the shop as we have so many larger koi we will have to spread the koi around our two facilitys , and the other facility can only be visited by appointment as we need cover for the shop . Thanks in advance for your understanding .....................Gary

29/10/2011 - Back !

As you will have seen from the blog im back from Japan , ill be in the shop toda (saturday) with hopefully all the pics and videos if you wish to discuss anything , All the fish pruchased will be shipped in the next two weeks , dont forget that if you wish to purchase any koi and you are not heated , then we can look after koi over the winter for you at  charge of £50 . 07/09/2011 - Website and sale

From today we will be deleting all the sold koi from the website , this will means that the numbers of the koi will not match up to the numbers on top of page .We are only doing this as people say that there are too many sold koi to look through to find the koi that are still for sale ,the koi will still be in number order and so will be easy to find .( This also helps us prepare the site for our upcoming trip to Japan ) Dont forget that there is still one third of all advertised prices on ALL koi , and we are still bringing new koi in from the q/tine centre every week and these are included in the sale .

06/09/2011 - Kennet valley show-congratualtions

Congratulations to all our customers who showed at the Kennet valley open this weekend .Just waiting for a full list of the results of fish supplied by us ,  but just a quick congratulations to  Steve and Angie Watson for thier baby champion win once again with a Miya showa , and Paul from Kennet valley on winning Mature champion with a Nagashima Tancho Showa .

02/09/2011 - Sale continues..................

Due to the success of our sale last weekend , we have decieded to carry on with the sale from now untill i go to Japan .This means that there is one third off the price of ALL  koi from the website prices , or any marked price in the shop which ever is lower !!!! At the moment we have male and female chagois from Marudo and Maruhiro which are nearly 50cm for £295 , this will all be now £196 , another example is the Torazo kohaku , around 35-43cm with the discount these come in around £150 - £260 .So if you have  never been down to see us before , it might well be a good time to visit !!!!

28/08/2011 - Bank holiday Monday /Website

Had a few calls and emails so just to confirm that we will be open 10-4 on bank holiday Monday , also that the fish pages are all up to date with the fish sold so far .

23/08/2011 - SALE SALE SALE -BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND !

18/08/2011 - Thanks -----Buisness as usual !!!!!

Id like to thank everyone for thier best wishes and offers of help , the news of what happened over the weekend has spread quite quickley and im overwhelmed by every ones concern . Although the situation was serious the operation was fairly routine and im back in the shop , but the only thing im lifting is money , credit cards and cups of tea ! Carl and Sue have managed to get in the quarantine and so we are again bringing in new koi to the shop .Today we have brought some new nisai in , including one platinum ogon which i apologise for as i thought we had sold them all and i knew a few of you are chasing one .

17/08/2011 - Autumn harvest Japan trip .

Please note that the first week of our trip that leaves on the 15th October is now full . The following week already has people booked in , so if you are intereatsed then please call the shop for details . Please note that we can cater for long /short trips , groups or individuals on a one to one basis .

16/08/2011 - If Travelling ..........Please read !!!

If you are travelling along way to visit the shop , please ring us before hand if you need to speak to me personally . The reason is i have to take it a bit easy this week as i was rushed into hospital on saturday night for an operation to repair a trapped hernia .This is not a problem at all as i am only a few miles from the shop but cant drive for a while so have to rely on Sue for transport . Carl is doing a first class job running the shop so please give him a chance , but if you feel that you need to speak to me it really isnt a problem as i will be popping in every day but ill just need to know when to be at the shop to see you . Thanks for all the get well messages and im already back on my feet , but obviously have to be very carefull so i may take up the offers of help as we still have fish to be moved into the shop from quarantine ................Gary

06/08/2011 - More tosai added

The last of the koi brought in yesterday are now priced and measured and on the website .

05/08/2011 - Even more jumbo tosai

This afternoon we finished off bringing the Sakai Yamamatsu tateshita jumbo tosai into the shop from the quarantine centre , also other koi as well which we will place on the website later tonight /tomorrow .These koi have all been quarantined and are ready to go !

05/08/2011 - On the website

The koi  brought into the shop from the q/tine centre this morning are now measured and priced on the website . All are in the jumbo tosai sales from JT 186 onwards .

05/08/2011 - More new koi to the shop

Due to the incredable sales over the last ten days , we have brought in more of the Jumbo tateshita tosai . Another 8 of the Torazo kohaku and sanke , more of the gin rin kohaku and goshiki , and ten more of the larger Sakai tateshita as well . These koi are now photographed and measured and i will do my upmost to get them on the site today or tonight .( JT 186 onwards on the website ) In a short while we will return to the q/tine centre to bring in the rest of Sakai tateshita and may be some more nisai from breeders  as Satoshi Tanaka and Yamazaki . PS also forget that we are bringing some more of the Shintaro sanke that arer around the 40cm mark today as well ! Below are some of the pictures of koi brought in today from the q/tine .

30/07/2011 - Jumbo Tosai - Sexing

We have had quite a few phone calls asking if the majority of the jumbo tosai are male , please note that when we put unsexed or nothing on the website this doesnt mean its male , it just means we are not sure at this time .Jumbo tosai are very hard to sex so unless we are fairly sure we wont say . As for the breeders that we have bought from , Sakai said they were a mix of female and male ,ie 50/50 ! Torazo is fairly sure of the tateshita that 90 percent are female ! Shintaro are also 50/50 mix , but the larger ones soon to come in are all female .

29/07/2011 - Torazo tateshita in the shop !

Today we have started bringing in the Jumbo Tateshita from Torazo . These were the final selection from which the remaining tategoi went straight to the mudpond . Some are already on the website measured and priced and ready to go ! The quality is from good to excellant , some are already being sold from the website so if your looking for a nice Kohaku please feel free to come in and look them over .( There are a couple of Sankes and one Tancho ) Below are a few examples of the new koi in the shop .

27/07/2011 - Sakais measured and priced

All the new koi brought in from the q/tine today can be found on the jumbo tosai page numbers  JT 141  onwards , and two new ones on the tategoi section . Just a selection of the new koi .....

27/07/2011 - More Jumbo Tosai !

Today we brought some more of the Sakai tateshita jumbo tosai into the shop , again gin rin kohaku , kohaku , ginrin showa , sanke and some showa from Sekiguchi . We have also brought some more koi into the shop from another pond of Sakai tateshita  at the q/tine centre , these are  mostly Gin rin Kohaku and Goshiki , with two very nice tategoi Sanke and some higher quality tateshita including a stunning Gin rin Tancho  . These have been measured and photographed and will appear on the website tonight .( hopefully, as its 7pm and im still at the shop !!!!  ) . I have had many emails saying that we havnt put anything on the special offers page , i am sorry but it has been very busy , but no excuses i will start tonight and make sure there is always somthing on the special offers page from now on !

20/07/2011 - Website changes

Over the next few weeks  there will be a few changes to improve the way we add things on the website ourselves .To start with the links for pages and videos will be clicked instead of cut and pasted , for example the next lot of koi out of q/tine will be the Torazo Kohaku , these can be seen here

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hmUg9Yb9k8&feature=related

19/07/2011 - Strange Rumours???

Today i had phone calls from a supplier and a couple of customers asking if we were closing down . I dont know where this rumour has started , and to be honest i dont really care as its buisness as usual for us , shops full of koi , q/tine is full of koi and we are all booked up ready to go to Japan . I find it strange that some one would say things like this when we are having one of the best years we have ever had ! ..............Gary

15/07/2011 - More Sakai Yamamatsu

Yesterday we have brought another 14 Sakai Jumbo tosai from the q/tine to the shop .Varietys include , Tancho , Tancho sanke , Kohaku , Gin rin kohaku ,Gin Rin Showa , Sanke and a few showa from Sekiguchi . Also some very high quality go sanke (10 only ) from Sakai including 2 sanke from his tategoi pond . The last pond to be out of quarantine will be the Torazo tateshita kohaku in around 2 weeks today , very pleased with these and more news about them to follow . Just put some more Jumbo Tosai on the website , this time its Sakai Tancho Sanke !

03/07/2011 - Sakai Jumbo Tosai Tateshita in the shop

This week has been fairly busy in the shop , so fortunately we have been able to make space for some more koi .We have brought in all the Tancho and Tancho sanke from Sakai Yamamatsu , along with some Kohaku , Gin Rin Kohkau , Sanke and Gin Rin showa. Also some Showa from Sekiguchi .These are hopefully being photographed today and we hope to start getting them on to the jumbo tosai page asap .These koi can be found on JT 106 onwards . Below is an example of the quality of some of these koi .

30/06/2011 - Shintaro Jumbo Tosai

All of the Shintaro jumbo tosai have now been measured and priced . Prices vary from £99 - £595 .

30/06/2011 - Delay in new koi

Although we are bringing in new koi every week from the q/tine centre , we are struggling to find room due to many sold koi still being on the premises. If you have a koi with us , please call to arrange pick up or delivery .Many koi are being picked up this week so we are hoping to get the Sakai tateshita jumbo tosai into the shop , these are around 30-40cm and looking very good .Varietys include , Tancho , Tancho sanke , Sanke , Kohaku , Gin rin Kohaku , Gin rin showa and also some showa from Sekuguchi . We have also now brought into the shop this stunning 58cm Female Shiro utsuri from Masaki .

24/06/2011 - Last nights shipment ..........Torazo Tateshita

Last night a shipment arrived at the q/tine centre from Torazo Koi Farm in Niigata . This consisted of 46 jumbo tosai tateshita from Kawakami Sans final selection before returning the rest to the mud pond . Very pleased with these koi and very glad that i bought them all .Mainly kohaku and thought to be around 90 percent female these koi were about 30-40cm on arrival , but we are hoping they will be 35-45cm after q/tine . As usual we took a few very quick photos and ill re size them and try to putr some on tomorrow .

24/06/2011 - Yamazaki koi out of q/tine

Today we released some Yamazaki nisai and sansai from q/tine .The nisai are shiro utsuri and goshiki which are on nisai B section , and various Sansai including the stunning Ochiba below . Also one more Shintaro Maruten sanke jumbo tosai of very good quality and measuring in at 41cm !

22/06/2011 - More koi released from quarantine .

Today and yesterday we have brought another 20 jumbo tosai into the shop from the quarantine centre .These koi are all from Shintaro , and although the some of the Sanke are not of a high grade we think the prices starting at £99 represents very good value for money . As most of you know for some time we have started growing on koi in the uk in our showered ponds and are very pleased with the results , below are some of the shiros from Kaneco which have been grown on from around 20cm to 27-30cm in around 8 weeks , and the skin quality and sumi are very good .These koi are on the jumbo tosai koi JT 84 onwards , and the new Shintaro koi follow on from that .Please note that sizes and prices will hopefully follow on tomorrow .

18/06/2011 - Onwards and forwards ...........

After the arrival of the last shipment of koi from Sakai ( Yamamatsu ) , i was so pleased with the quality of the whole shipment including the two tategoi sanke that he sent , we have decieded to move up a further gear in quality . We have now also purchased another three tategoi from Sakai , these three were picked out for us by Sakai himself , unfortuantley due to the price , we have decieded to leave these koi in Japan untill October , the idea of this would be to give us Nisai Sanke at a level that we would not be able to buy normally due to budget restrictions . These koi will be placed on the website later today on the tatgoi page and koi in Japan page .First pictures are the Tategoi Maruten and four step Sanke that have about three weeks left in quarantine , the next three are the Tategoi we have left in Japan .

12/06/2011 - Stop Press !!!!!!!!!!!

Great news from Japan , Torazo Koi Farm has just done its final selection of tategoi to return to the mudpond .This left around 50 high class tateshita which we have now purchased . Thought to contain 90 percent female , mainly kohaku and a few sanke , here is a link to the video of the actual fish purchased and a photos of some of them . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sesmCHGF5hA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hmUg9Yb9k8

10/06/2011 - Jumbo Tosai to the shop !

Today we have started bringing in jumbo tosai from the quarantine centre .These fish are 28cm to over 40 cm and are from Shintaro Koi Farm .We have started putting them on the website and are JT 73 onwards .Prices start from £125 , koi will be measured and priced this afternoon . 08/05/2011 - Monday Closure and Tosai

From immediate effect we will now be closed on Mondays , we have tried to avoid this decision but with the shop so busy and so many koi coming through the q/tine centre we have no other choice . Very sorry if this is a inconveniance to any one but its just impossible to keep the shop open 7 days a week now . For the next two mondays ( 9th and 16th May ) although closed i will be in the shop untill we get the message out to our customers. If you need anything urgently , feel free to email as this will still be checked during the day . We now have the 300 hundred tosai out of q/tine and the first 100 have been taken into the shop , there are many many varietys so if looking for some smaller koi these are now available to purchase .

These are not at the shop and should clear q/tine in 6 weeks time . Once again these pictures were taken very quickly as they came out of the box late last night .

Also the rest of the Kase doitsu and metalic mix will be moved in the next day or two . We are short of space for the larger hiroi nisai , but we are trying our best to the point of using chillers to cool two ponds down so people can take thier koi , then we can move these in as well . The Marabushi Kohaku jumbo tosai can be seen on indiviual pictures now , and the Tanaka and Oomo sanke and showa are next to go in the bowl .

17/04/2011 - All arrived !

Fridays shipment has all travelled very well .The Masaki shiro has certainly attracted a lot of intereast , it came out of the box as though it hadnt even travelled from Japan ! The gin rin 58cm Kohaku from the Niigata auction also looks superb , even to the point of us trying to get the customer it was purchased for to sell us back the koi while its still in q/tine , but to no avail ! The Shintaro koi where as good as normal , the showa looking very impressive for very reasonable priced koi . The jumbo tosai will be priced between £195 and £295 , and are between 25cm -35cm . We also asked Yamazaki to pick some fish and the nisai goshiki and shiros were very nice , some included below . Please remember that the photos were taken in the dark as the fish were being taken out of the boxes . First 4 pics are the Shintaro better quality females , also the next ones with 4 on a picture are also Shintaro .Other pics are from Yamazaki . Lots more but the photos are even worse , so ill retake when they finish q/tine .

15/04/2011 - More koi !

Tonight we have a small shipment of selected koi arrive from Niigata Japan . This will include 8 nisai goshiki and shiro utsuri , 4 Sansai ( sanke , hi utsuri , ochiba and kujaku ) from Yamazaki . The level of quality of the five sanke should be some of the best ever seen at Gatwick koi , for a long time we have slowley raised the level of quality of koi here , and once yet again we try to move forwards again . These koi again will not be going to the shop , but to our seperate q/tine facility away from the site .

11/04/2011 - Time for Tosai !

03/04/2011 - Sorry again , bye bye to Chloe and website .

Every time i come on here i seem to be apologising for not updating the news page or the special offers page , things have picked up rapidally in the shop and it seems the season has arrived . Along with that we had the news that Chloe was leaving for a new job and a change in direction , we would like to thank Chloe for all her years of hard work ( and putting up with me ) and wish her all the best for the future . So combine that with the fact that all the fish are finisheing q/tine it has been the most hectic time of my life ! , things are getting under control and i will try and do the news page every day or two , and will definatley put special offers up on the website every week . Speaking of websites , we are trying to update our prices , but it seems that somthing seems to go up everyday . Thanks for taking the time to keep looking in ...............Gary

28/03/2011 - New fish in the shop

From Wednesday afternoon , new koi will start to arrive from the quarantine centre . We will not be able to bring all the koi from the Jan/Feb trip , as we still have many many sold koi in the shop . Some beautiful tosai ochiba , gin rin ochiba and doitsu karashigoi (kigoi and chagoi cross ) . 15 Selected Tosai from Marubushi koi farm , these guys kohaku grow very quickly , and a year or two back the brothers won GC at the Wakagoi show .

To save everybody calling and emailing , the koi from our last trip start finishing thier quarantine next wednesday ( 23/03/2011 ) Although they will be finished , they will not all be taken to the shop as we are still awaiting alot of koi to be picked up from the winter . Koi in the shop are at 17-20 degrees , and we will try to start cooling them a little , please note that the Maruhiros are still at 24 degrees so we will need a little notice on these as we wish to keep growing them .

14/03/2011 - Quarantine dates

Today some of the ponds will reach 24 degrees and will start thier last two weeks of quarantine . Becuase of this we can put the date of the end of the quarantine on the website , this detail will be added over the next day or two .

11/03/2011 - News from Japan

By now most of you will have heard or read about the terrible earthquaqes , and tidal waves that have hit Japan this morning . Our thoughts are with all the peole caught up in this terrible incident ....................Gary

09/03/2011 - Niigata auction

By now most people would have heard that alot of the big players did attend the auction and the prices went through the roof . Even some of the tosai going for many , many thousands of pounds . Saying that , our agent did manage to obtain one koi we wished to purchase .This 58cm ,female , sansai gin rin kohaku from hiroi . Even for this the agent went over the given budget but he said it was too beautiful to miss out on ! To all those that asked us to bid , im sorry , thats the way the auction goes , but i may be returning to Japan in the next month or so , so if you want me to look out for somthing for you , then feel free to contact me at the shop .

01/03/2011 - Super Shiro !!!!!!!

Some of you might remember me talking about a rather special Shiro Utsuri on my blog from my last trip to Niigata in Jan/Feb . Wel are very proud to announce that she has now been purchased and will make her way to England in the next month or so .She is 62cm and from Masaki koi farm , and is very high quality ,the skin quality is excellant , this koi must be seen if you are looking for a high class koi ! Masakai breeds from Omosako bloodline , and has now the honour of selling brood stock back to them !

On the 9th March Niigata breeders are holding another auction , details can be found here http://www.echigo.ne.jp/~nishikigoi/auction.htm Bids can be placed by us on most of these koi , please note that we will only put bids on koi from breeders that we know and trust , like this magnificent nisai sanke from Oya koi farm , or this female tosai from hoshikins .Please contact us for more details .

25/02/2011 - More koi on the way ................

With the quarantine full , and a fair amount of koi in the shop , i decieded to contact my agent with some koi i need in regards to putting a small shipment together for March /April , first two koi purchesed are two female sansai kujakus , both just under 60 cm , both from Oofuchi .One has a very nice inazuma pattern .Also we have bought some nisai shiro utsuri and Goshiki from Yamazaki , and some Sansai Sanke , Hi utsuri , Kujaku and Ochiba .Unfortunately the agent had to scan the polaroids as his battery ran out on the digital one when he was at yamazaki

23/02/2011 - A view in the q/tine ponds .

Today i spent some time in the q/tine facility , while there i took a few videos . Sorry the quality isnt very good , but it gets kind of misty inside the fish houses with the temperatures at 24 degrees .Click or cut and paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fwr5k1bISg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSTXgrF665c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgdkHWXlAR0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPnhggaRB84

21/02/2011 - New Koi

Last week saw us emptying the q/tine centre and bringing the remaining koi into the shop . These have now all been photographed and finally today , finshed being added to the website . The new koi in the q/tine facility have settled down very well , and all being well should be in the shop well before easter . The shop has plenty of koi in now all quarantined and ready for sale including the new 40/50 nisai , sansai brought it last week !

21/02/2011 - Thank you ...runner up koi dealer award !

We would like to say thank you to all those who took the time to vote for us in the koi magazine readers awards . This year we were runners up in the koi dealer award , this means a lot to us at Gatwick Koi as every year we try to improve standards of Koi and service , this vote proves we are certainly on the right road ! Thanks again !!!!!.............Gary and Chloe

19/02/2011 - Safe and sound

All the koi selected on our trip in Jan /Feb arrived last night . These were all taken to our seperate facility for q/tine for the next 6 weeks .The koi have settled very quickly and look fantastic . If any clubs are looking for show and grow fish , we have many differant options we can offer so please contact the shop . We have now arrived at roughly where i wanted to be in our expansion plans I.E. a shop full of koi for sale that have all been through q/tine , and the next shipment of selected koi in the q/tine centre going through our q/tine routine . When this has finsihed , if enough sold koi have been collected , then we will return to Japan to select more good-high grade koi .

18/02/2011 - Koi in my sleep !!

Sorry we have been slow with news updates , but the last week has been manic moving the koi around and trying to get the q/tine facility totally empty so the whole shipment can go there . This will be the first time that no new koi ( with the exception of the back room which is totally isolated ) will go to the shop . This will be another step forward in the move towards total biosecuity ! Untill about ten minites ago i thought we had taken pictures of all the new koi taken to the shop and put them on the web . I now realise that we have not taken pictures of all the new koi in the main pond ! This includes 3 nisai shiro utsuri and tancho showa from Kaneco ,5 nisai sanke from yagenji around 45-55cm . Also some nisai karashigoi , chagoi and yamabuki from Marudo that are up to 60cm while only be 20 mths old !!!! The karashigoi are a beautifull pale colour and very clean .I will try and get these done today and put them up later on the website time dependant . Oh , and by the way the new koi arrive today , and although not in the shop they can still be purchased , and along with all the koi in the shop can be left till it warms up free of charge !!!!!!!!!!!!!

09/02/2011 - 09/02/11 Website and pricing

Today we have finished making the changes to our koi for sale pages . For a while now people have complained that there were too many nisai in one section , and it was too hard to find a koi they had seen earlier and that there were no indication of prices .To get round that we have now divided the nisai for sale into three section .The first is Nisai A , this will be two year old koi priced at £195 ,or under .The second Nisai B , this is two year old koi that are priced at £295 . Finally Nisai C , these are two year old koi that are individually priced above £295 . Hopefully this will make things easier for people to find what they are looking for . Also it means that most koi have been reduced to fit into this new scheme , so have another look through the koi for sale pages and you may see somthing you were looking at before , now at a much better price !!

08/02/2011 - 08/02/11

20/11/2010 - 20/11/10 Few more fish

Over the next few days our agent is tying up a few loose ends in Niigata that we run out of time to do our selves . One of the jobs is to see the last of the fish we left out in Japan this summer . I believe the koi has been harvested this week and is a Yamamatsu Sanke , so by Monday night we should pictures of the koi and make a decsion weather to leave it for another year or ship it to the uk . Another task was to find some koi to put in a box to help the shipping costs of the Kaneco shiro we won at the recent Niigata breeders auction . , today we have purchased another two shiros , ( unsexed ) and a very nice tancho showa .

19/11/2010 - 19/11/10 Just cant help myself

Today i was sent a picture of five Yagenji sanke , 4 female and one male . I rang Japan to find out more details , the agent told me he was looking for some nice shiros at Yagenji , and the older brother showed him the sanke and said " Gary San ? " , that was enough for me , i just cant help my self around these guys koi ! I wont know the exact prices untill we ship , but please feel free to call for details .

Today our agent purchsed some more koi that we couldnt find while we were in Japan . Two yamabuki ogon , two chagoi and two karashigoi from Marudo . These koi are all nisai , female , and range from 55cm to 62 cm which is fantastic considering they are not even 18 months old . Im just putting the details on the website now , but here is the link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgDHCJrx61w

14/11/2010 - 14/11/10 Nogyosai Show

Congratulations to Malcolm Freemantle , whose gin rin showa from Tanaka supplied by us , came second in size 45cm gin rin at the 2010 Nogyosai show in Japan . Although second this is still a major feat as this show is considered one of the three most important in Japan !

13/11/2010 - 13/11/10 Looking good !!!!!

All the fish arrived safe and well . Id like to thank all the people who helped last night with the shipment , as a small company its hard to take delivery of so many fish on our own . So a very big thank you to the following , Rod for placing his trust in us , and for also placing some of the fish in his car as the weight was a bit heavy for my little van . , Mark ( bullet ) , Distech Paul , Doug the Thug ( who was actaully not finacially raped this time round ! ) John Gelman and last but not least Chris Smith , who now realises why i when i asked for a right hand man everyone lese took a step back wards and only he stuck his hand up . Working next to me is not the easiest job in the world , and as Chris now knows is the most stressfull , and why Doug always does the rubbish cos he says its the only job where you dont get shouted at . I hope you all enjoyed your selves and thanks once again .

12/11/2010 - 12/11/10 Shipment tonight !

All the ponds are prepared , and soon ill be leaving to go to the airrport to collect the fish . Very excieted about this one folks , more sansai and yonsai than i have bought in a long while .

Below is the shiro we purchased , nisia from Kaneco who is famous for his shiro , we are not sure wether to ship or leave this in Japan .

09/11/2010 - 09/11/10 Auction , its over !

Just had an email from Japan , out of 12 bids we managed to get two koi . One Kujaku for a customer , and a Kaneco shiro utsuri for us . Below is the Maruta kujaku , sorry about the picture quality as they are taken from another website . Intereatsingly enough , the two koi we have pruchased went way under the maximum bid we placed on the koi , whilke the others wernt even close . Bearing in mind that there were some very wealthy asian clients , Tani farm and Narita koi farm ( two of the largest koi wholesalers in Japan ) in attendance we did well to get two fish ! once again thanks for all those who put bids in , and sorry we diddnt win more . Till the next one .............

09/11/2010 - 09/11/10 No news yet

Wow , its 8am and im in the shop already but theres no news yet . I can hardly contain myself awaiting the auction results . Auctions are very funny things at the best of time , many bids have been placed by myself and customers , some a bit cheeky , some very very serious , but we still might not end up with any . As i write this im thinking of someone in Essex who probably had less sleep than me and is twice as excieted !!!! . Id like to thank every one who has asked us to bid on thier behalf , it makes me realise how far we have come in the last few years . As soon as i hear any news ill let people now , heres another pic to wet your appetites . A nisai kohaku from Hoshikins ..............

13/10/2010 - Packed and ready to go (almost )

Just jumping up and down on the bag to fit more of those last minute extras and had some intereasting news from Japan . One of our koi has been harvested and the breeder is over the moon , so much so he asked our permission to enter it into the Nogyosai show in a couple of weeks . Its a great testament to the koi , as this breeder has won gin rin in various sizes at this show for the last few years . Last year we purchased two gin rin showa from Tanaka which one first and second in variety / size gin rin . The koi is already sold to a UK customer who is very pleased with the news . This is the koi before it went to the mud ponds as nisai , really look forward to seeing it next week as sansai .

12/10/2010 - All systems go !

All parts of the managment control are now finished with our new trade page launched . We are still going to Japan but have been a bit quiet on here due to a quick visit to hospital . Already many breeders have brought some fantastic koi so it looks like a great trip is on the cards ! Two days to go !!!!!

04/10/2010 - Japan

Theres still time left to contact us if there is anything you would like us to find while we are in Japan . Please remember that it is possible for us to find a high grade koi to leave in Japan to be returned to the mud ponds for the summer .

27/09/2010

In two weeks time we are off to Japan , please feel free to call us if there is anything you would like us to find for you . If you are a trader we are now offering a selecting service direct from Japan .( see new trade page ) Sorry if you have come in the shop over the last two weeks and found us in a bit of a mess , most of the big work is now done , all the main filters are in situ and just waiting for the new showers and then im having a day off ! The new plumbing section is finished along with our new food display , so if you havnt visited for a while , pop in and see the changes .

21/09/2010

Finally we have rolled out our new look fish page , im sure it will need "tweaking " over the next couple of days . As we are now in control of the fish page we will start adding the rest of the fish back onto the new site . Please remember that there is one third off the prices shown .

19/09/2010

Progress in the shop is moving well , but as most of you know , everything seems to take longer then planned . Today we hope to get the sieve and bead lined up for the main pond , with all the pipework for the new showers in place . Please note that if travelling to the shop that ALL the Shintaro koi are now sold , but we are still bringing in a few new koi from other breeders every week so there is always somthing to look at !

14/09/2010

As most of you know , we are now fibreglassing again as the season draws to a close . At the moment we are now fully booked for September unless the work is indoors or completeley covered over . Over the last few days we have been ripping some of the shop to bits and rebuilding , isnt funny how every job seems to take four times longer than you though ! Sympathys to those building any projects now !

13/09/2010

Everything is moving along nicely with the alterations in the shop . The long room is now 100 percent finished and the back room should be finished by tomorrow night ( depending if we decide to go for the second shower on this pond ) . The old filter is now removed from the main pond and the sieve and bead will go in hopefully Tuesday or wednesday , and the extra showers will be added over the next week or two .

13/09/2010 - SALE OF KOI

Alot of people have complained that there was not enough notice about our bank holiday sale , and that it clashed with the South East Koi show , to make amends we will now offer one third of ALL koi ( except the large chagoi ! ) from today untill i return from Japan . There are still a few new koi being brought in from the q/tine centre every week , so new stock will also be included in the sale .

07/09/2010

Not much news going on at the moment , but plenty of change ! For those who have visited us before the " long room " has now been refitted with system one now running on a nexus 210 , and system two on an easy pod . For those who doubt what EA filters can do , feel free to visit and see for your self . This week work starts on the back room which will see the old cl2 remolved and replaced with two easy pods ( one would cope , but we want two to put the flow over our mini shower display ) . The returns have already been converted to inlets to feed a much larger pump going over the bigger shower .Hopefully if this is all completed this week ,then work starts on the main pond ready for Japan . Whilst this work is going on all ponds are being fiiltered with pump fed showers so we dont lose our biological filtration ! We are also considering putting on a shower from the sansai range as we are now agents for these as well !

07/09/2010

Hi all , as we have been very busy in the shop and on various site products , we havnt added any special offers for last week . To make up for this we will run some extra and very good offers over the next few days to make up for this !

03/09/2010

Thanks to everyone who came down over the bank holiday for our sale , great weekend and good to meet new people .

25/08/2010 - SALE SALE SALE

This bank holiday weekend ( 28 , 29 , 30 th ), we are having a MASSIVE sale on dry goods and koi , sale will start on Saturday 9.00am and finish Monday at 4.00 pm . ALL koi will have one third off the price shown on the internet . (This will include the main pond ! ) . Most dry goods will have 20 percent off the internet price ( There will be a few exceptions on roughly a dozen products , these will only be 10 percent , please ring for details ) . We still have 50 Jumbo tosai from Sakai and Sekiguchi to come to the shop from the quarantine centre , so what we aim do is bring a third of them in on Saturday , same again Sunday , and same again Monday so we will maintain some of the quality all weekend .(Just as an example the sekiguchi showa 30-40cm will now be £150 each ! ) If you are visiting the South East show we are only 30-40 minutes away located between Crawley and Faygate village in Sussex . Coffee as usual , is free !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

23/08/2010

We have just emptied another quarantine pond into the shop , mainly nisai showa and sanke . Tommorrow we wil start bringing in the last 50 jumbo tosai from sakai hiroshima and sekiguchi showa .

19/08/2010

Over the next few weeks we are having a major revamp in the shop with new filters going on many of the ponds , all EA filters , sieves , and all of our shower range will be working and can be viewed on our own ponds . We have now obtained a third store room so will be carrying more and more dry goods , so 210 and 310 nexus , sieves and many others will be stored at site with no waiting to order .

11/08/2010

We nearly have another pond empty in the shop , so over the next couple of days we will be bringing more Jumbo tosai in from the quarantine . Again mostly kohaku and sanke from Sakai Hiroshima , and Segiguchi showa . There are some nisai gin rin showa and showa to be brought in from Hosokai and Miyako .

06/08/2010

More new koi have been put up on the website under jumbo tosai and nisai . If travelling , please phone first for availability as they are selling quite quickly . Hopefully these photos will be better as we have discovered a problem with resizing photos when sent to the web people , this has now been sorted out on the new koi , and we will endevour to re post the pictures of the other jumbo tosai on there already over the weekend .

06/08/2010

Untill further notice all orders of 15kg Kusuri and Ea Foods will be sent as 3 x 5kg to help keep the food fresher , if visiting the shop please feel free to drop off any unwanted buckets as we can use them for fibreglassing .

02/08/2010

Our Japan trip is now booked for the Autumn harvest . We leave for Niigata on the 14th October , and the first trip is now half full already ! If you want to join this trip or have a seperate trip for you own party then please feel free to call Gary in the shop about your requirements . All the bugs on the website have been sorted out now so we will be putting on news and special offers much more regulerly .

25/07/2010

New Koi are arriving from the quarantine centre every couple of days . Some are already on the website and another 30 are expecting to go on by Tuesday .

10/07/2010

Hi sorry we have had to delete all the news items and repost them under this month as the web guys still cant seem to sort out the gremlins in the site , i can only keep apologising as it really is beyond my control .......Gary All jumbo tosai will start to finish q/tine by the end of this week / begining of next week . New fish will also be arriving from the q/tine centre so please watch the website over the next week . For some reason we still have a few gremlins on the site and cannot change the special offers page , this weeks offer is 4 bags of 5kg hikari wheatgerm (20 kg ) , large pellet , dated aug £130 delivered !!!! Small stock so call the shop and have it delivered next day . There are actually five varietys in the range of probites food . The winter one we will also be stocking over the next few weeks . We are now officially the southern distributor for probites food . The whole range will be in stock by Friday for immidiate delivery ! This food was trialled by many people a few years back and was a very popular food but the distribution was never worked out . There are four varietys in the range and a choice of 3kg or 10kg bags , The price for the 3kg is £40 and the 10kg bag sells for a very resonable £114 . Please call to reserve orders for delivery or collection for the shop Apologies to those awaiting the end of the q/tine , this has been delayed due to the amount of koi coming through the q/tine and the purchase of a new chiller which had to be hard wired to the board , which in turn was found to be in need of renewel , not a 5 minute job as you can imagine . All the work is now done and all the jumbo tosai are now in the second heat cycle , and the nisai should be the same by saturday . We will try and get more pictures up on the website asap . Kusuri Super silk is expected back on the shelves as of next week . We are now taking orders for this and the new bags of silkworm pupae . Please look at our new prices on all the Kusuri range and remember on 5kg or above delivery is free !!!!!!!!!!!!!
